Child of God

He's got the whole world in His hands!

“I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill. His throne will be established there.” (Psalm 2:6)

Hello again. I trust you’re all well and content. We went to Morecambe last Saturday – one of our many favourite places for a drive-out – and it was a beautiful day. Unusually, the resort was quite crowded. It used to be a bit of a dump but a lot of funds have been invested in making Morecambe a very pleasant place to visit. It has a beautiful promenade and I love the fact that it’s so clean and litter-free – a real pleasure to walk there.

“He was given authority, glory and sovereign power … his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:14)

Jesus’s kingdom will bring peace and blessing on the earth. His return to earth has been prophesised many times in the Bible and all Christians eagerly await this time. No-one knows when this will be but we have reasons to believe it won’t be too long now.

“At that time they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Luke 21:27)

Situations on earth show this to be an approaching event. Cynics have been arguing for many years that the world has not changed. Man being man, there have always been wars, famine, violence and every kind of evil on the earth. This is indisputably true but what many people fail to realise is that the end-time prophecies are all tied in with Israel, the nation where Christ was born, and home to His chosen people.

“Truly, I say to you this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” (Matthew 24:34)

As anyone with a modicum of history will know, the Jewish people were dispersed out of Israel and around the world for many years. The Bible foretold the return of the Jews to their country and stated that Israel would again be recognised as a nation in its own right. This happened in 1948. Jesus also said that the generation that witnesses the restoration of Israel will also witness the Second Coming. By a simple calculation, we can deduce that anyone born in 1948 will only be aged 74. Many people live past this age.

“For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth.” (Luke 21:35)

Jesus told His disciples to keep a constant watch for His return. Although over 2000 years have passed since He said this, the truth remains. Christ is coming again!

Most people are not expecting Him. Many folk think we Christians are barking mad, waiting for a Saviour who may or not appear. Of course, people have every right to their own views and opinions. I would hate to live in this world without the promise of God’s own Son returning to earth to rid the world of evil. That’s my hope in Christ and that’s what keeps me sane(ish)!

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3)

We can look forward to eternal life because Jesus has promised it to all who believe in Him. When things become unbearable in this life, we always have the hope of the best yet to come.

“Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

I truly hope I am still alive when Christ returns to earth but only God knows when He will return and how many days on earth I have to look forward to. But, whether I die beforehand or am alive when Jesus returns, I am absolutely certain that I shall be meeting Him face to face. I am so looking forward to that moment. In the meantime, I will continue to try to live the way He wants me to – not easy by a long shot – but I have His presence and guidance on this earth. I have put my trust in Jesus and have no worries about His return.

I wish you all a safe, healthy and pleasant week.

Until then: No hope, no Christ – know hope, know Christ!

Love, Ann
